Inadvertently exposed yesterday to tv
news and what must be called astounding stupidness. A ten minute bit
on some new invention we can buy that might keep “skimmers” from
stealing our souls through credit cards at the gas pump. Never once
was a foolproof ancient invention acknowledged called “cash.”
Here's the interesting part: the very
presence of this indicates evidence that this simple solution to the
threat never will occur to a pretty decent chunk of their audience.
They'll just line up to buy the new gadget.
Modern man. You gotta love 'im.
Once in my life I used a credit card to pay for gas. It was in East Glacier, Montana in the dead of winter with the temperature hovering near zero. My rental car was running on fumes, there was nary a soul in sight and the only possibility of acquiring gas was at an unmanned station with the only means of getting gas being to use a credit card. Other than that I have always used that ancient invention called cash, and see no reason to do otherwise.
